Imagine taking off from your own two feet, climbing into the sky beneath a paraglider wing, and seeing the world from a completely different perspective. That is powered paragliding. Also known as PPG (Powered Paragliding) or paramotoring, powered paragliding combines the simplicity and versatility of a paraglider wing with the freedom of a lightweight engine-powered aircraft. It is personal aviation in its purest form accessible, adventurous and completely immersive. At AeroTAG Academy, we believe learning to fly is more than simply getting airborne. It is about developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to become a responsible pilot.
What is PPG?
Powered paragliding uses a paraglider wing combined with a paramotor, a lightweight engine and propeller system carried by the pilot. The engine provides the thrust needed for take-off and sustained flight, while the paraglider wing provides lift and allows the pilot to control direction. The result is a remarkably simple concept: WING. ENGINE. PILOT. FLIGHT. Unlike conventional aircraft, a PPG is designed to be launched on foot. The pilot prepares the wing, starts the engine, accelerates into the wind and allows the wing to lift them naturally from the ground. Once airborne, the pilot controls the aircraft using the wing's brake toggles for directional control and a hand throttle to manage engine power. It is a unique form of aviation where you don't simply sit inside an aircraft. You become part of the aircraft.
Why Fly PPG?
There is something different about flying a PPG. You are not separated from the environment by a cockpit. There is no runway stretching ahead of you and no cabin surrounding you. Just the wing above you, the engine behind you and the sky ahead.
Learn to Fly PPG
Flying a paramotor may look simple from the ground. Learning to fly one properly is a different story. Before taking to the sky independently, students need to develop a combination of ground handling, launch, flight control, landing, equipment and safety skills. At AeroTAG Academy, training is designed to take you through the learning process step by step and building your knowledge and practical ability as you progress.
01
Discover
Understand the fundamentals of powered paragliding, equipment, weather, airspace and flight safety.
02
Ground Handling
Learn to control and manage the paraglider wing on the ground. Developing good wing control is one of the foundations of PPG flying.
03
Power & Launch
Learn how to safely combine wing control, engine power and take-off technique.
04
First Flight
Experience your first powered flight under appropriate instruction and conditions.
05
Build Skills
Develop control, turns, climbs, descents, approaches and landing techniques while becoming more comfortable in the air.
06
Progress
As your knowledge and flying skills develop, you can continue progressing towards greater independence and more advanced flying.
Is Powered Paragliding (PPG) For You?
PPG attracts people from many different backgrounds. Some come from a lifelong interest in aviation. Others discover the sport through adventure, travel or simply the desire to experience flight in a completely different way. You don't have to be an experienced pilot to start learning. What matters is a willingness to learn, follow instruction, understand the risks and develop your skills progressively. If you've ever looked into the sky and wondered what it would feel like to fly there yourself, powered paragliding might be the place to begin.
Training Matters
🪂
There are no shortcuts to good flying. Powered paragliding is an exciting sport, but it is still aviation. Weather, wind, terrain, equipment, airspace and pilot decisions all have an impact on every flight. That is why proper training should be the starting point for every new pilot. A good training programme is not simply about teaching you how to get into the air. It teaches you how to prepare, assess, control, respond and make responsible decisions.
From Novice to Pilot
✈️
Every experienced pilot started somewhere. You don't need to know how to fly before you begin. Your journey starts with understanding the equipment, learning to control the wing and developing the fundamentals on the ground. From there, you gradually progress into powered flight and continue developing your skills through experience and structured training. There is no need to rush the process.
READY TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP?
Your first flight is only the beginning. AeroTAG Academy is built around the idea that personal aviation should be approached with proper training, quality equipment and responsible flying. From your first introduction to PPG through your development as a pilot, we're here to help you take the next step in your aviation journey.
